When he looks back on his past roles as a speaker and trainer, he realizes he loved the performance and entertainment aspect. Today his work is a blast-he's having fun and making great money at the same time. Working “hard” was not a pleasure for him. David says that is not true! As he moved up the corporate ladder and became more successful and earned more money, he realized he was less and less happier. Somewhere along the way, it’s become the norm that in order to succeed, we have to put in a hard day’s work and that life isn’t easy. ![]() You don’t have to work hard every day to succeed and be happy. Now, he believes that he can do a great job, and that the little details don’t matter to others, so he saves a lot of time by not sweating the small things. In the past, his Maximizer talent told him that nothing was ever good enough – he spent hours perfecting the little details that didn’t truly matter. ![]() When he went out on his own, those same people started telling him how good he was at the same things. That ultimately led to discouragement and a negative view of his workplace. They only commented on the tasks that needed improvement. In his old roles as a corporate trainer, David realized that no one told him when he did the good things. A huge departure for DD in regards to song structure and musical approach. The lost gem on this album is the closing track, "Winter Marches On". "Skin Trade" also had a great run on the charts and is a cult classic. ![]() The lead single, "Notorious", shot up to #2 on the charts. The synth work was minimal, and strategically placed horns took over the harmonic textures. Notorious was considerably less densely arranged than the bands earlier work, relying mostly on great melodies, raw musicianship and the CHIC elements that became the Nile Rodgers Sound in the 80's. The band itself was in a state of transition, in that Andy Taylor (Guitars) was in and out of the sessions, ultimately moving on to his own solo project, leaving the band and team to engage other guitarists for the project, and Roger Taylor (Drums) moved on to other endeavors, ultimately bringing in Sterling Campbell. The magic of Notorious lies in it's well evolved rhythm section and matured components that Nile Rodgers (producer) brought to the table. ![]()
